Axis One
Record Coupling System
Every vinyl playback system is a chain of mechanical relationships, and the record itself sits at the heart of that chain. Without stabilisation, the record is effectively floating; coupled loosely to the platter through whatever mat lies beneath it, and coupled to the spindle not at all. In this condition, micro-vibrations generated by the stylus, the bearing, and the motor find their way back into the groove, where the cartridge reads them as signal. The result is a subtle but persistent layer of distortion that smears upper bass definition and obscures midrange clarity. The AxisOne was designed from first principles to close these resonance pathways and allow the cartridge to read only what the groove actually contains.
The AxisOne achieves this through two independently engineered interfaces. A precision-machined Viton O-ring, embedded into the base of the stabiliser, sits on the record label; a material chosen specifically for its exceptional damping characteristics across the audio frequency range. This creates a consistent, defined contact patch that isolates the aluminium body from the record surface while simultaneously applying even downward pressure across the label area. At the spindle, a second Viton O-ring grips the spindle firmly, preventing the stabiliser from becoming a resonance bridge between the bearing assembly and the record. The spindle is held, not clamped, and the record remains undished and unstressed, unlike traditional screw-down clamps, which deform thinner pressings under tension.
The 270-gram mass of the AxisOne is not arbitrary. Extensive listening tests across a range of non-suspended turntables established this as the point at which the benefits of increased record-to-platter coupling are maximised without the platter bearing becoming overloaded. Below this mass, the audible improvement becomes marginal. Above it, the added inertia begins to work against the bearing, introducing a subtle muddying of bass and lower midrange.
At 270 grams, the record is held in a firm, consistent contact with the platter mat, reducing the air gap that would otherwise allow the record to resonate independently of the platter. The record and platter begin to behave as a single mechanical system, which is precisely what accurate groove reading requires.
The audible result is not the addition of something that wasn’t there; it is the removal of something that was. The upper bass becomes more extended and defined because the resonant smearing that obscured it is no longer present. Midrange gains clarity and focus for the same reason. Imaging tightens as inter-channel distortion artefacts are reduced.
The AxisOne is available in anodised satin black and silver, machined from solid aluminium to tolerances that reflect its engineering purpose. It is, in the most literal sense, the final component in your analogue chain.
What the AxisOne
brings to your system
Spindle decoupling
Viton O-ring grip prevents the bearing assembly from feeding resonance back into the record.
Label-area isolation
The embedded base O-ring creates a consistent, damped contact patch that sits within the label without risk of damage.
Optimised stabilising mass
270g derived from real-world testing across multiple non-suspended turntables, balancing coupling benefit against bearing load.
Record-to-platter unification
Consistent downward pressure eliminates the air gap that allows records to resonate independently of the platter.
Record safety
No clamping force, no spindle thread stress, no dishing of the record under tension.
Cleaner upper bass and midrange
Allows the cartridge to read groove information with reduced resonant interference.
Secure but effortless handling
The spindle grip is firm enough to matter, yet light enough to place and lift with one hand.
Available in anodised satin black and silver
Machined from solid aluminium to match the engineering quality of the finest turntables.
